Step 1:
Complete a practical test request. Please be sure to include all requested details on the prompt. We process these in the order they are received, however, applicants who are MOST complete with their practical test eligibility requirements will be given scheduling priority. Even if you aren’t ready just yet, but expect to be soon, we encourage you to contact us so we can start planning for your practical test date!
Step 2:
You will receive an initial email from our staff ASAP not to exceed 48 hours of your request. This email will make you aware of our availability, processing requirements, fee schedule, and the next steps to securing a practical test date.
Step 3:
You will initially be assigned a calendar month to expect your practical test which may be as soon as the present month. If you are ready for your test today, we will add you to our waitlist to accommodate you ASAP in the event that we have an opening immediately. You will be sent our forms to complete in order to progress in the scheduling process. Once we have received your required completed forms, verified your eligibility to test, and determined the dates we have available, you will be assigned a test date/time. We will work with the applicant or instructor to provide a specific date as soon as we can. You will also be required to pay a $250 non-refundable processing fee at this time to secure your appointment.
Our Scheduling Process
Step 4:
Our DPE belongs to the Reno FSDO. As such, we strive to do all practical tests in the local Reno/Tahoe FSDO area and service local applicants. Outside checkrides will be considered if we have the availability and you will need to travel to us unless pre-coordinated with us. We are located at the Fallon Municipal Airport (KFLX). Accordingly, we can maximize our efficiency and scheduling flexibility if applicants come to us in Fallon. If you are a local Reno FSDO flight school or applicant, YOU ARE NOT required to travel to Fallon and there is no charge for travel in the Reno FSDO area.
Step 5:
If traveling to Fallon during the winter months, we recommend you travel to KFLX the day prior to your practical test if you are the first test of the day. We will provide you with complimentary ramp parking, a crew car, and an excellent testing environment to contribute to your testing success! You will need to book a hotel room and plan for meals at your own expense, however, we will send you our local recommendations!
